Frequently Asked Question

One of the paintings I am most proud of is an abstract mixed-media painting inspired by memory, movement, and the hidden structures of life. The work combines organic forms, layered textures, and vibrant color relationships that invite viewers to explore the painting in their own way. Rather than illustrating a specific story, I wanted to create a visual experience that encourages personal interpretation. The painting reflects my interest in how memories, emotions, and experiences overlap and connect.

I am primarily interested in abstraction, color, memory, identity, architecture, and the relationship between people and places. My background in architecture and design influences the way I organize space and structure within my paintings. I love working with acrylic paint because it is durable, versatile, and dries quickly. The fast drying time fits my painting process and allows me to build multiple layers and make spontaneous decisions. One of my strengths as an artist is my use of color and my willingness to experiment with unexpected color combinations.

My favorite painter is Jasper Johns. I admire the way he transforms familiar symbols into thought-provoking works of art. His paintings are intellectually engaging while remaining visually powerful. I am inspired by artists who create work that invites viewers to slow down, observe carefully, and discover new meanings over time.

I would like to improve my composition skills and gain greater control over my paintings. While I enjoy working intuitively and creating abstract work, I want my paintings to feel more intentional and structured. My goal is to create abstract paintings that communicate ideas and emotions, not just attractive colors and shapes. I hope to strengthen my artistic voice and develop a clearer visual language.

I have been painting for many years and have sold many paintings, but because I never completed a formal fine arts degree, I was often hesitant to call myself a painter. One of my personal goals is to develop greater confidence in my identity as an artist. In addition to painting, I have worked professionally in design, architecture, and web design. I am very happy to be part of this class and enjoy painting alongside other artists. I especially appreciate the opportunity to work with acrylics rather than oils because acrylic paint supports the speed and energy of my creative process. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to continue growing as an artist.
